Frequently Asked Questions

You Asked, We Answered

What Does a Typical Party Look Like?

We trailer the llamas, typically 2-4, to your event and bring everything that is needed.  Guests can pet, hug, feed, dress-up and walk the llamas. Oh, and of course take pictures! Guests can also ask questions about llamas or we can do more formal education. Most parties last 1.5-2 hours. All you need to provide is a grassy area (front or backyard) or a driveway to accommodate the Llamas.

What Does a Typical Trail Walk Look Like?

Our trail walks are new this year and will start in September and go through November (weather permitting). We often use the Carver Park Horse Trail or the Luce Line Horse Trail in Minnetrista.  Walks can be an hour or more and they can include a stop along the way for a picnic.  The trails are beginner level but not appropriate for those with limited ability or strollers. Trail walks are great for families, couples, or groups. We use up to 10 llamas for trail walks depending on the number of people. In most cases each person will have the opportunity to walk their own llama. We are also open to trailer llamas to other sites for trail walks.

What Does a Typical Therapy Visit Look Like?

We will typically bring 2 llamas to you. It can be a nursing home or senior living, special needs program, youth program, library, etc. Visits can be inside or outside. Inside is usually in a large room with easy access to the outside. Believe it not, llamas can ride in elevators to visit residents on upper levels! A therapy visit usually consists of petting, asking questions, and an informal education on llamas. Zoe is a registered Therapy Llama which means she has been tested and certified to be in/around various situations and people. Our Llamas are used to being around large groups of people and are gentle, huggable, and loveable.

Are Llamas good around: young kids, dogs, and elderly people?

Yes - Our Llamas have been around thousands of visitors and situations. During our visit, we will talk about the Llamas and how/where to pet them to ensure that your visit is extremely enjoyable.

Do Llamas Spit?

Yes-Llamas do spit but typically only when they feel threatened or are fighting for food. There are signs when Llamas are going to spit and we will do everything possible to avoid that from happening.

Can you ride a Llama?

No - Llamas are not meant to be ridden. They can only carry about 1/4 of their body weight. However, they can carry "packs" on their backs which can carry water, food and camping equipment when you are on a trail walk.
